For six years, Central Ohio musicians have performed a benefit concert, “Songs for Sarah”, honoring a young Westerville woman, Sarah Cousineau. The intent of these performances is to raise public awareness, encourage advocacy and allyship, and financial contributions for medical research.

Sarah, for whom the event is named, was born with mitochondrial disease, resulting in her being both deaf and autistic. Her father, Keith Cousineau, a local musician and ardent advocate for autism and mitochondrial disease awareness/advocacy organized the first Songs for Sarah concert in 2018.

tOd and the Bad Ideas, who have coordinated the most recent events, in partnership with the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation [UMDF] present this year’s event, on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Turtle Creek Tavern, including a national live cast.

Performing in the event will be the School of Rock Gahanna House Band, Atomic Zombies [featuring Keith Cousineau, Sarah’s father], Nameless Faces, and tOd and the Bad Ideas. There is no admission fee to attend; however, attendees are encouraged to make donations at the door, or directly to the UMDF via - https://umdf.org/songsforsarah
All proceeds from the event will go the UMDF.
